Cross-curricular Learning

Our school is dedicated to cultivating students' spirit of inquiry and generic skills. In response to differences in hospitalization periods, we flexibly design interdisciplinary activities to help students achieve the greatest possible learning outcomes within limited timeframes.

STEAM Problem-Solving Activity: "Chinese Music—Tradition and Innovation"

In the 2024-2025 academic year, the STEAM coordination team hosted an interdisciplinary problem-solving activity themed "Chinese Music—Tradition and Innovation." This initiative integrated elements of Chinese culture across subjects such as Science, Math, Art and Computer Education. The activity encouraged students to apply diverse knowledge to solve problems, linking their learning to everyday experiences to stimulate interest.

During the activity, students explored the properties of different materials through scientific inquiry, conducting experiments to assess the sounds produced by various materials. This helped them choose the most suitable material for making the drumhead of a Chinese drum. Throughout the process of creating Chinese musical instruments, students not only showcased their creativity but also developed their problem-solving skills.

Project Learning: Imagining the Future of "Smart Cities"

In the 2024-2025 academic year, a multidisciplinary project study was organized around the theme of "Smart Cities." This initiative aimed to help students understand the concept of smart cities and the measures implemented in Hong Kong to promote them while fostering their generic skills, inquiry abilities, and problem-solving skills.

During the study, students attempted to propose suggestions based on social situations, such as utilizing existing Multi-functional Smart Lampposts to assist in locating individuals with dementia and designing robotic cleaners to enhance campus cleanliness efficiency. This showcased their critical thinking and creativity. Students even worked collaboratively in groups to design surveys and conducted research among friends and community members, which improved their communication and teamwork skills.
