From 2014 to 2016, our school participated in the school-based support service for "Catering for Learner Diversity as a Whole-school Approach" provided by the School-based Curriculum Development in Secondary Schools, the Education Bureau. Under the support service, a set of teaching materials was “tailor-made” for our school, and the framework of “Mini Task” was set as the development goal of the academic years. “Mini Task” has been used as the framework of our school-based materials to meet students’ individual learning needs since then.
Features of “Mini Task”:
Although the Mini Task is short, each of them is complete, flexible, and with clear learning objectives. Teachers may select individual tasks for lessons according to students’ need, or they can combine multiple tasks to form a unit or curriculum. Teachers can also provide immediate feedback to students on their learning performance which facilitates the practice of formative assessment. With the limitations of the learning environment and time, completing a learning task would not only help students master their learning but also increase their sense of achievement.
