Our school has designed a humanitarian learning kit in connection with the Junior Secondary Level Life and Society Module 29 "Social System and Citizenship _Global Citizenship and Humanity Work".
Content of the Learning Kit
Focus 1:What is humanity? (1 lesson)
1. Let’s explore "Protect human life" "Care for the health of the vulnerable" and "Respect human dignity".
- Learn the elements of humanity: "Protect human life" "Care for the health of the vulnerable" and "Respect human dignity".
- Explore how to practice humanity in daily life.
Focus 2: Why do we practice humanity? (1 lesson)
2. Concept of Global Citizenship
- Learn the concept of Global Citizenship.
- Cultivate the spirit of practising humanity, fulfill the responsibility of Global citizens, and contribute to our community and the world.
Focus 3: How to practice humanity? (4 lessons)
3. Save and protect lives in crisis and emergencies_Give blood, save lives
- Learn the reasons and precautionary measures of temporarily deferred of blood donation.
- Understand the reason of blood bank sunk to urgent levels.
- Cultivate a habit of blood donation.
4. Strengthen the community resilience in crisis_Help others, self help, prevent disaster, prepare disaster
- Learn the importance of help others and self help.
- Establish the concept of resilience, and strengthen the ability of facing crisis and disaster.
5. Strengthen the community’s resilience to crisis and emergencies: basic first aid skills for outdoor activities
- Acquire basic first aid knowledge for coping with emergencies.
- Understand the connection between first aid knowledge and humanitarian values.
6. Promote the value of humanity and raise the awareness of humanity issue_Food crisis in Africa
- Learn the humanity issue_Food crisis in Africa.
- Understand what humanity aid is.
- Students can concern humanitarian issues, and reflect how they can participate in humanitarian works.
Extended Learning: Humanity cinema (Film-watching + discussion) "Every life is valuable" (1 lesson)
7. 《Wonder》
- Students share their feelings, put themselves in others’ shoes, and discuss the humanitarian actions in the film.
- Discuss the parts that demonstrate "Protect human life" "Care for the health of the vulnerable" and "Respect human dignity".
