21-22 Annual Teacher Professional Development Day

2022-01-27

A creative workshop was held by the STEM Education Group on this year’s Teacher Development Day. In order to develop teachers' creative thinking, teachers were required to complete different challenging tasks using LEGO as a tool.

All teachers were divided into ten groups to carry out a series of collaborative problem-solving tasks, including challenges of different natures such as tower building, three-dimensional puzzles and object transportation. Different groups showed their creativity in finding the most efficient and convenient solutions for each task. Some teachers took a steady and efficient approach, while others aimed for higher difficulty. Each group had an own way of thinking, and when implementing ideas with Lego blocks, many groups were able to complete designated tasks through repeated reviews, adjustments and trial and error.

As inspirers of students, in order to enhance students' creative thinking in the right direction, teachers must be open minded to creative thinking and be aware of the limitations of the actual situation. This workshop allows teachers to experience the application of creative thinking in solving practical problems and enhance teachers' confidence in teaching.
